Kerala LDC expected cut off marks

Kerala PSC LDC recruitment examination, 2017 has concluded. 2017 LDC exam pattern in most of the districts were as expected. Kerala PSC has used common question papers for more than one district, for the first time compared to the previous LDC examinations. Here is the LDC 2017 examination review and expected LDC cut off marks for each district.

Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram LDC Exam Review, Expected Cut Off Marks

Malappuram and Trivandrum district LDC 2017 examination was easy. Questions from  General Knowledge, Malayalam and English sections were of average standard. 45-48 marks will be a good score in general knowledge section, 15-18 for English and 8-9 in Malayalam  to obtain a higher rank in the LDC rank list. Mathematics questions were tough for an average candidate, most of the mathematics questions were of degree standard, 12-15 marks will be a good score in mathematics section.  One question was wrong in the question paper and it will be cancelled, so the maximum marks will be 99. The expected cut off mark of the LDC exam in  Trivandrum district is between 72-75 and in Malappuram it is 64-68.

Kollam, Thrissur and Kasaragod LDC Exam Review, Expected Cut Off Marks

 It was a common question paper for the LDC exam in Kollam, Thrissur and Kasaragodu districts. The LDC exam questions for these districts were relatively easy. Few grammar questions in the Malayalam language section were very tough to answer. There were two wrong questions/options in the general knowledge section, therefore it  will be cancelled in the final answer key, so the total marks will be 98. The expected cut off mark for Kollam district is between 65-70, 65-70 for Thrissur and 55-60 for Kasaragod district.

Ernakulam, Kanoor LDC Exam Review and Expected Cut Off Mark

LDC examinations in Ernakulam and Kanoor districts were relatively tough compared to other districts . Questions in the mathematics and science sections were tough to answer.  English language questions were also above the degree level standard. There was no correct answer for one question in the general knowledge section and there were spelling mistakes in three questions. The expected cut off mark for the Ernakulam district will be between 60-62 and for the Kanoor district it will be between 52-54.

Alappuzha, Idukki, Kozhikodu LDC Exam Review and Expected Cut Off Mark

Alappuzha, Idukki and Kozhokodu districts LDC examination was easy for an average candidate.  Most of the questions were of LGS standard. Mathematics and English questions were easy to answer. Science questions were as expected. Many questions were repeated from previous PSC examinations. There were too many spelling mistakes in the question paper and these questions may be cancelled in the final answer key. The expected cut off mark for the Alappuzha district is between 64-68, Idukki 65-70 and Kozhikodu 63-69.

Pathanamthitta,Palakkad LDC Exam Review and Expected Cut Off Mark

The LDC exam held for the districts of Pathanathitta and Palakakad district was a catastrophe . Kerala PSC would have never witnessed a question paper like the Pathanathitta,Palakkad- 2017 LDC exam .Questions were arranged in a new way.No questions were included from India or world history. Questions were mainly asked from international events, which were out of syllabus. A total of twenty questions in the question paper were out of syllabus .The exam contained questions mostly from Chinese and German history.Questions were also asked about the Chinese civil war and the present insurgent groups of China .Random questions were asked on Soviet union and Nazizm.A question to name the total number of pacific islands surprised the students.

Science section was again more pitiable.Questions were asked to find the neutrons in an atom and to find the total number of molecules.Thankfully,Maths and Malayalam didn’t create any trouble for the students.The faculty who put the question paper had totally forgotten that it was a an exam of SSLC standard.

The expected cut off for Pathanathitta district will be 39-44 and  for Palakkad district will be between 42-47

Kottayam,Vayanadu LDC Exam Review and Expected Cut Off Mark

LDC exams held at Kottayam and Vayanadu , maintained the minimum standards.Some of the questions confused the students as the options didn’t have correct answers. More than 10 questions were from Tourism sector. A question to choose the minimum rate to visit the UNESCO heritage cities surprised the students.

Some of the other questions related to Tourism were the train in which the picture of the church near to Bom Jesus Basilica is found, the place where Bhittarkanika National Park is Situated, the only Indian lake in Destination Flyways, the years in which Khajarao Temples were selected in the UNESCO Heritage list and some questions related to the tourism package, ‘Beyond The Back Waters’.The students criticised that  that the questions would have been a work of a foreigner or a traveler as the number of tourism related questions were more.As the medium of exam is English, tough  words gave a hard time for the students.Question on the inception of Dooradarshan confused the students as its telecast started in 1959 and only in 1976, Dooradarshan started boradcasting as an independent channel.

1,72,815 students applied for the exam from the two districts.The expected cut off marks for Vayanadu district is 50-56 and for Kottayam district is 56-62.
