Ajmer: Railway Recruitment Board, RRB is expected to release the list of candidates whose applications for RRB Recruitment 2018 have been accepted. As per the sources, the work of compiling the applications and the list of candidates who are eligible to appear for First Stage CBT Examination for ALP, Technician and Group D posts would be released next week. Indian Railways had received a record 2.37 crore applications for nearly 90,000 vacancies. The exam dates would then be announced on the 20 regional RRB websites.

RRB’s had in the month of February 2018 released two notifications – CEN 01/2018 for recruitment of ALP and Technicians and CEN 02/2018 for recruitment of Group D positions. The eligibility criteria for the two posts were extended and so were the age limit. The changes in turn had a catalysing effect and railways received a whopping 2, 37, 34, 833 or 2 crore, 37 lakh, 34 thousand, 833 applications for nearly 90,000 posts.

RRBs were in turn expected to release the date of examinations in the month of May and conduct the First Stage CBT in May or June. However, due to the enormous response received, the examinations were delayed. After receiving the applications, the officials would go over the applications received and prepare a list of candidates who qualify for appearing in the examination.Related News | RRB Recruitment 2018: Apply to 2573 posts in Central Railways on rrccr.com, eligibility 10th pass

As per the latest reports, the work of filtering through the applications is almost complete and the list would be ready by next week i.e. first week of July. Sources have also confirmed that one of the regional RRBs would be turned into a nodal centre which would then conduct the examination. All the other regional RRBs would in turn follow up and release the admit cards to the candidates.

As per experts, the examinations are expected to be conducted over a month – given the number of candidates. Also, after analysing other recruitment examinations lined up by state and central departments, experts expect that the first stage CBT would be conducted in August and the Second Stage CBT may be pushed back to next year.
