The College, continues to be affiliated to the Calicut University and is autonomous, in the sense that it is free to frame its own course of studies and adopt innovative methods of teaching and evaluation.

Meppayur Salafi College of Teacher Education was established in 1995 as a Professional College dedicated to the education of teachers under the able leadership of Salafiyya Association Meppayur(Regd) Since 1995 this college is imparting quality Education to Teacher Trainees.

Our college is a premier institution devoted to quality teacher education at the secondary level. The college has as a motto a verse from Bhagavat Gita “Uddhared atmana tmanam” which means “One should lift up the self by the self”. Our Vision is to impart quality Education that fosters a better social order.

Having started to function in 2005, Al Azhar Training College (BEd), managed by Noorul Islam Trust, is recognised by the Government of Kerala, and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The college offers Bachelor of Education programme to students interested in pursuing teaching as a career. B.Ed is the mandatory certification required for anyone keen on taking up teaching as a profession.
