Dantuluri Narayana Raju College was established in 1945, before Indian Independence, and was an offshoot of the National movement and renaissance thinking. Being agrarian, the Godavari region had been kept out of the higher academic activities in the pre- independence period.

M.E.S Asmabi College, a premier educational institution managed by the Muslim Educational Society (Regd.) Calicut, owes its existence to the remarkable foresight and unremitting zeal of the late Dr. P.K.Abdul Gafoor, the late P.K. Abdulla and late Dr. A.K Siddiq Karikulam Azhikode.

St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam is an offshoot of St. Albert’s High School, which was established in 1892 by His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Leonardo Mellano, Archbishop of Verapoly. The School was upgraded to a 2nd Grade College in 1946 affiliated to University of Madras. Thus the Institution is having more than a century old tradition of building up students of the communities with a special focus on the less-privileged ones.
