A bank clerk is a person who does the job of an assistant in an bank. A clerk has to take care of the customer be it any job. Mostly customers approach the bank to deposit money, to withdraw money, to cash cheques or to start an account. All these needs by the customer must be done by the clerks in the bank. The job of a clerk is very light when compared to the job of an officer.
You can be a bank clerk by wining exams conducted by banks. The exams consists of two phases-prelims and mains. There is no interview for clerks as the interviews for clerks had been taken off by the union government .Don’t worry if you get posted as a clerical officer you can write examination within the banks and opt for promotion.
Bank clerks do have a handsome salary anyway not as much as the officers anyway .But you will have a sense of satisfaction that you don’t have to work hard as the officers do. The basic qualification to write a bank clerical exam is bachelors degree. You can write the exam between the age of 21 yrs and 28 yrs .

A clerk can become a probationary officer after some internal promotion tests. After that everything will be same till a Chief Executive Officer.

The starting salary of a bank clerk is 19,000 and other emoluments. With experience it will become high and it can go till 25,000.If you want to get double the salary then you can write promotion tests and go further.
