Dermatologist Career

Dermatologist is a person who treats skin diseases of a person .It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of the various kinds of skin diseases. It is concerned with the health of the skin, nails, hair and mucous membranes. They treat over 3000 skin conditions including psoriasis and skin cancer. A dermatologist will also carry out skin grafts, laser treatments and many more. A dermatologist will physically examine the area or if necessary takes skin grafting for a better analysis. Once a diagnosis is made , a dermatologist will do the treatments such as the chemical peels , cosmetic surgeries ,cryotherapy , vein therapy , skin grafts etc .

Skin also includes hair, nails, and the wet areas of the mouth. Dermatologist will also look after all ages ranging from babies to old people .A dermatologist is also a person who treats skin cancer. Some of the major diseases handled by a dermatologist are acne, psoriasis, a topic eczema, skin infections such as warts, mole surveillance, melasma and occupational dermatitis .

Dermatologist Eligibility

The student must pass 12th std with major subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology to write the NEET exam (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). NEET exam will determine the eligibility of a person to pursue MBBS course.

Dermatologist Recruitment Process

Step 1 To become an Dermatologist one must have a recognized MBBS degree from a medical college

Step 2 You must pass the NEET PG medical entrance to attain admission for masters in Anesthetics.

Step 3 The duration of MD in Anesthetics is for two years. 

Dermatologist Career Prospects

After passing out the course one can enroll as a dermatologist in private hospitals, government hospitals or nursing homes. There are also exclusive centers for dermatology in cities where one can start such a clinic. There are also much opportunities for doctors outside India.

Dermatologists will get a monthly salary upto Rs 25,000- Rs 35,000 in hospitals .After sufficient years of practice their per annum salary can go upto Rs 9 –Rs 10 lakhs .
