ENT Career

ENT doctor is also called as an Otolaryngologist who is trained to diagnose and treat disease of ear, nose and throat. They also conduct surgeries for the treatment of the ear, nose and throat. They take care diseases like ear infection, nose bleeds, infected mastoids, tonsillectonomies and chronic sinusitis. They are trained to manage disorders of the upper pharynx and oral cavity, voice box, ear, nose and nasal passage. An ENT doctor will treat the disorders of the ear, nose and throat.

Patients who suffer ear problems are mainly guided to an ENT. Ear balance and ear infections are a common site in the present world .Other issues for which an ENT is consulted are nasal cavities and sinusitis. Appearance of polyps, defection of Nose Bridge everything is consulted and treated by an ENT .Larynx and voice box is another area where an ENT treats.

You will work in different areas right from treating patients who have problems in these areas to working with various deformities that are present on the faces of people. You will also get to work alongside numerous other healthcare specialists in order to take care of patients’ health.

ENT Eligibility

The student must pass 12th std with major subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology to write the NEET exam (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). NEET exam will determine the eligibility of a person to pursue MBBS course.

ENT Recruitment Process

Step 1 To become an ENT one must have a MBBS degree from a recognised medical college.

Step 2 You must pass the NEET PG medical entrance to attain admission for Post Graduation .

Step 3 The duration for Masters in ENT medicine is three years. 

Step 4 Complete the PG course and you will be a recognised ENT specialist .

ENT Career Prospects

ENT is becoming increasingly competitive and popular .Otolaryngologists see more children than any other surgical specialty apart from paediatric surgeons. ENT surgeons also manage all the non-surgical care of their patients (as there is no sister medical specialty).

ENT working in government hospitals will get a salary near to Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000, including many emoluments. In private hospitals also there is a wonderful package for ENT doctors. Senior doctors will get a package near to Rs 90,000-Rs 1,00,00,0 .
