Meteorology Career

Meteorology is the prediction of weather conditions for a short period of time. A meteorologist will predict rain or a thunderstorm for the next two or three days. It is the study of phenomena of the weather to forecast the weather for daily life. They study the temperature for all the areas and gives agencies and news channels the required forecast.

Meteorology is a very broad field. There are different types of meteorology  within the field that many meteorologist can specialize in ,they are research meteorologist, Broadcast Meteorologist ,Forensic Meteorologist, Consulting meteorogist  and climate meteorologist .They predict the forecast using the tools such as aircraft, radars ,drones , satellites and computers .With the help of these tools they predict weather conditions such as rain, thunderstorms ,cloud bursts ,heat waves etc.

Meteorology Career Prospects

A meteorologist will work with the government agencies in weather agencies .Some of them will indulge in research topics such as global warming, El Niño changes. They are mostly employed in militaries, navies , and meterology departments.

Other places where they are employed are satellite space research centers, radio and television stations and global weather centers . The famous jobs for a meteorologist are research and teaching.

 

Meteorology Salary

Salaries of a meteorologist will depend upon the type of job they are working at .If they are a research student they will get a stipend every months. As a fresher you should only expect an amount of Rs 15,000 in a private organization. If it is a government job then you can expect an amount of Rs 40,000-Rs 50,000 in the initial stage. There are also other job which will fetch you the same salary such as teaching and jobs in navy and army.
