University College, Thiruvananthapuram (estd.1866) was built to impart English education to the common folk of the erstwhile Travancore by H.H. Sri Ayilyam Thirunal Rama Varma Maharaja.
Government Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram, has a long and glorious history. Originally a part of H. H. The Maharaja’s College, Thiruvananthapuram, it was separated from the parent institution in 1924
