  • India Signs ‘Christchurch Call to Action’

    To combat online extremism, India has decided to sign an international call initiated by the governments of France and New Zealand along with top social media companies after the Christchurch attacks.

    The document called "Christchurch Call To Action" was signed and adopted on Wednesday with participation from 26 nations, including France, New Zealand, European Commission, Ireland, Norway, Senegal, Canada, Jordan, UK, Indonesia, Australia, Germany, Japan, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and India.

  • Lokpal Website Launched

    The website of the Lokpal has been launched. The website, www.lokpal.gov.in, was inaugurated by Chairperson Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose in presence of all the Members of Lokpal in New Delhi today.

    It provides basic information about the working and functioning of the anti-corruption ombudsman.

  • Captain Aarohi Pandit Becomes 1st Woman In World To Cross Atlantic Ocean Solo In a LSA

    Captain Aarohi Pandit, a 23-year-old pilot from Mumbai became the world's first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo in a Light Sports Aircraft (LSA), thrilling her family, friends and aviation circles on Tuesday.

    She achieved the feat around midnight Monday-Tuesday (May 13-14) when she landed her tiny aircraft at Iqaluit Airport in Canada, after a gruelling 3,000 km long flight, under adverse and extreme weather conditions following take-off from Wick, Scotland (United Kingdom), with brief stopovers in Greenland and Iceland.

  • Nepali Sherpa Kami Rita Scales Mt Everest For 23rd Time; Creates World Record

    A 49-year-old veteran Nepali sherpa has scaled Mount Everest for the 23rd time, breaking his own record in reaching atop the world's highest peak, media reports said Wednesday.

    Kami Rita Sherpa, who summited Everest 22nd time last year to set record of most summits on Mt. Everest, stood on top of the 8,850-metres peak together with other Sherpas on Wednesday morning.

  • RBI Releases 'Vision 2021' For Payment Systems For 'Cash-Lite' Society

    Aiming at a 'cash-lite' society, the Reserve Bank of India Wednesday released a vision document for ensuring a safe, secure, convenient, quick and affordable e-payment system as it expects the number of digital transactions to increase more than four times to 8,707 crore in December 2021.

    The 'Payment and Settlement Systems in India: Vision 2019 - 2021', with its core theme of 'Empowering Exceptional (E)payment Experience', envisages to achieve "a highly digital and cash-lite society" through the goal posts of competition, cost effectiveness, convenience and confidence (4Cs).

  • India’s Overall Exports Registered Positive Growth Of 1.34% In April 2019

    India’s overall exports, combining Merchandise and Services, in April this year is estimated to be around 44 billion US dollars with a positive growth of 1.34 per cent over the April last year.

    According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry data released today, overall imports in last moth is estimated to be around 53 billion dollars with a positive growth of 4.5 per cent over corresponding period of last year.

  • Infosys Foundation’s FCRA Licence Cancelled

    The Home Ministry has cancelled the FCRA licence of Infosys Foundation after a request was made by the not-for-profit initiative of the IT major, a senior government official said.

    The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) enables an association or an NGO to receive foreign funds, and they have to mandatorily register under it to receive such funds.

    IT services firm Tech Mahindra and French digital content publishing firm Rakuten Aquafadas on Thursday signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to collaborate on building enhanced customer experience offerings.

    Rakuten Aquafadas and Tech Mahindra aim to build a Customer Experience Offering leveraging the suite of software that Rakuten Aquafadas provides for digital publishing.

  • Sanjiv Puri Appointed ITC's New Chairman

    ITC Managing Director Sanjiv Puri has been appointed as the chairman by the Board of Directors. His new designation will now be chairman and managing director, the company said in a stock exchange filing.

    Company chairman Yogesh Chander Deveshwar passed away on May 11.

    Mr. Puri (56) has been the Managing Director since 2018. He was appointed on the board in December 2015 and as the CEO in February 2017.

  • China To Host 2023 Asian Cup Football Tournament

    South Korea have abandoned their bid to stage Asian Cup Football tournament in 2023, leaving the sole other bidders China with a free run to become hosts. 

    The Korea Football Association (KFA) said in a statement that it had pulled out to strategically focus on a joint bid with North Korea to host the Women's World Cup in the same year.
