  • AI training to 15,000 people by Microsoft by 2022

    Software major Microsoft has decided to train and certify 15,000 workers on Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills by 2022, in partnership with education provider General Assembly (GA). The training will revolve around technologies including data science, Machine Learning (ML), Cloud and data engineering among others. "According to the World Economic Forum, up to 133 million new roles could be created by 2022 and to address this challenge, Microsoft and GA will power 2,000 job transitions for workers into AI and ML roles in year one and will train an additional 13,000 workers with AI-related skills across sectors in the next three years," the company wrote in a blog-post on Friday. 

  • CTET Exam 2019: SC seeks response from CBSE, Centre

    The Supreme Court Thursday sought responses from the Centre and CBSE on a plea seeking ten per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), 2019.

    A vacation bench comprising justices Indira Banerjee and Sanjiv Khanna issued notices to the Centre and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the plea and asked them to respond to it by July 1, the next date of hearing

  • Dwayne Bravo in reserve list for World Cup 2019

    Former West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo, who had announced his retirement from international cricket in October 2018, has been included in the team’s list of reserve players for the World Cup. The list, put up on the website of Cricket West Indies (CWI), also included Kieron Pollard, who hasn’t played an ODI since October 2016.

    Bravo has not played an ODI since October 2014. His last appearance in West Indies colours came in a T20I match against Pakistan in September 2016.

  • Bangladesh bans fishing for 65 days

    Bangladesh has banned fishing off its coast for 65 days to try and boost depleted fish stocks.

    The government told the BBC that all types of fishing vessels would be covered by the ban and coast guards would enforce it from Monday.

    Thousands of fishermen have planned protests - arguing that they will be left without a source of income.
