  • Nripendra Mishra Retained As Principal Secretary To PM Modi, Gets Cabinet Minister Rank

    Nripendra Misra and PK Mishra were on Tuesday re-appointed as Principal Secretary and Additional Principal Secretary, respectively, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Cabinet minister rank.

    The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved both the appointments with effect from May 31, an order issued by the personnel ministry said. Their appointments will be co-terminus with the term of the prime minister.

  • Reckitt Names Pepsico’s Laxman Narasimhan As CEO

    British consumer goods giant Reckitt Benckiser named PepsiCo executive Laxman Narasimhan as its Chief Executive Officer. Narasimhan was serving as PepsiCo's global Chief Commercial Officer. He will be join the company as CEO-deignate and will be appointed to the board on July 16.

  • Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel Takes Oath As New CJ Of Delhi High Court

    Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court Friday.

    Lt Governor Anil Baijal administered the oath of office to Justice Patel at a function held at Raj Niwas here. Earlier, Justice Patel was posted at the Jharkhand High Court.

  • Azim Premji To Retire As Executive Chairman of Wipro in July

    Wipro founder Azim Premji will step down in July from the company he built over five decades into one of the country’s largest technology services firms and devote more of his attention to philanthropic initiatives.

    The 74-year-old Premji will give up his executive functions as chairman and managing director but remain on the board as director and founder chairman. Eldest son Rishad Premji, already a board member, will take over as chairman, and chief executive officer Abidali Neemuchwala will become managing director as well. The changes will take effect on July 31.

  • 'Cyclone Man' Mrutyunjay Mohapatra Appointed IMD Chief

    Renowned scientist and cyclone warning specialist Mrutyunjay Mohapatra was on Tuesday appointed as the chief of India Meteorological Department (IMD), according to a Personnel Ministry order.

    Mr. Mohapatra and his team at the Cyclone Warning Division of the IMD have earned praise for their accurate forecasts on cyclones, its wind-speed and likely impact on life and property including during the recent cyclone ‘Fani’, when their timely warnings enabled the authorities to ensure early evacuation of millions of people.

  • RBI approves appointment of Rakesh Makhija as chairman of Axis Bank

    Axis Bank Monday said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved appointment of Rakesh Makhija as chairman of the bank.

    The board of the bank in March had approved the appointment of Makhija as chairman subject to RBI clearance.

    National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval has been re-appointed to the top post in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office for a second five-year term, with an elevation, the government said on Monday.

    Appointed as NSA during Modi’s first term with a minister of state rank, this time round Doval has been elevated to the rank of cabinet minister on par with members of the Cabinet Committee on Security—home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

  • Maldives Ex-Leader Mohamed Nasheed Tipped As New Speaker

    The former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed has been nominated as the country's parliamentary speaker and is set to be sworn in Tuesday, a party official said.

    Nasheed was unanimously chosen to head the People's Majlis, or the parliament, by his Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) which won a near three quarter majority in the 87-member assembly in April.
