  • Lok Sabha Passes Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill 

    The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2017, which provides for allowing a court trying an offence related to cheque bouncing to direct the drawer to pay interim compensation to the complainant.

    Replying to a debate on the bill, Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said: "There are 16 lakh cases of cheque bouncing still lying in subordinate courts and 35,000 cases are in higher courts."

  • Nitin Gadkari Launches Development Projects In Madhya Pradesh 

    Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari launched development projects worth over five thousand four hundred crore rupees in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh today.

    Addressing the gathering during Vikas Parv and farmers' convention in the district, Mr Gadkari said, the Centre was fully committed to completing the project in time.

  • Government Sets Up High-Level Committee To Check Mob Lynching 

    Two high-level committees have been constituted by the central government to suggest ways and legal framework to effectively deal with incidents of mob violence and lynching, the Home Ministry said today. 

    One of the committees is being headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the other by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba.

    India and Rwanda signed eight agreements following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Kigali. The two countries signed agreements in the fields of Defence, Trade, Agriculture, Leather and allied products and Dairy.
