  • Mithali Raj Becomes First Woman To Play 200 ODIs

    Mithali Raj, India's One-day International (ODI) captain, became the first woman to play 200 50-over matches when she walked out for the toss against New Zealand Women in Hamilton on Friday. Unfortunately, Mithali Raj was dismissed by Leigh Kasperek for just 9 runs during her milestone outing. Mithali Raj already holds the record for the most-capped women's cricketer in the history of the game. Mithali Raj had achieved the milestone when she played her 192 ODI of the career, going past Charlotte Edwards' record of 191 appearances.

    India Women have played 263 ODIs in their history. Mithali has now featured in 200 of them.

    Almoez Ali scored a spectacular overhead kick for a record ninth goal of the tournament to set Qatar on their way to a first Asian Cup triumph with a stunning 3-1 win over four-time champions Japan on Friday.

    Ali's 12th minute strike took him past Ali Daei's 1996 tally and, combined with a 27th minute strike from Abdulaziz Hatem and a late Akram Afif penalty, helped the Qataris make an emphatic statement ahead of their hosting of the 2022 World Cup.

  • South Korean Footballer Ki Sung-yueng Announces Retirement

    Midfielder Ki Sung-yueng on Wednesday announced his retirement from the South Korean national team.

    In a letter to the Korea Football Association, Ki said it had been a 'big honour and responsibility' playing with the national team for the past 11 years. The 30-year-old also thanked his fans for their love and support, reports Efe news.

    The midfielder had hinted at retirement after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but decided to compete in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, currently being held in the United Arab Emirates, at the insistence of the new national team coach Paulo Bento.

  • Vani Kapoor Becomes First Indian To Grab Australian LPGA Card

    Vani Kapoor became the first Indian to earn a card for the Australian Ladies PGA Tour (LPGA) after coming through its first-ever Qualifying Tournament at the Ballarat Golf Club in Ballarat, Australia.

    Vani shot rounds of 71, 78 and 69 to finish at two-over 218 and was tied-12th with three others. The top-20 from a field of 81 earned playing rights on the Australian LPGA but there were many other benefits and spots available too.
