    Three Indians have been named in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2021 including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin. Kane Williamson has been named as the captain of the ICC Test Team of 2021. Williamson had led New Zealand to a win in the first-ever World Test Championship final against India. The ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year 2021 does not include any Indian player.

  • India to face Pakistan on October 23 in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022

    India will yet again face Pakistan in its first match of the T20 World Cup 2022. The schedule for T20 World Cup 2022 was announced on January 21, 2022. India will begin its campaign on October 23, 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). India had opened its campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021 as well against Pakistan.

  • IPL 2022 likely to be held in India behind closed doors

    The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is likely to be held in India behind closed doors as per top sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

    As per the sources, IPL 2022 will be held in India without the crowd in Mumbai and Pune. The venues are likely to be Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India and DY Patil Stadium.

    The BCCI is likely to give a go-ahead to hosting IPL 2022 in India if the COVID-19 third wave subsides, the sources said.

    The last date for IPL player registration was January 20. A total of 1,214 players have signed up to be a part of the IPL 2022 mega auction, including 896 Indian players and 318 overseas cricketers. 

  • Syed Modi Badminton Championship 2022: PV Sindhu wins women's singles title, Ishaan Bhatnagar-Tanisha Castro win mixed doubles

    Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu won the women's singles final of the Syed Modi Badminton Championship 2022 held at Babu Banarasi Indoor Stadium on January 23, 2022. Top-seeded Sindhu beat Malvika Bansod in two straight sets of 21-13, 21-16 in the final that lasted for 35 minutes.

    The two-time Olympic medalist had stormed into the women's singles final of the Syed Modi Badminton Championship 2022 after defeating 5th seeded Russian opponent Evgeniya Kosetskaya who retired hurt midway in their semifinal clash on January 22nd. Malvika, on the other hand, had defeated another Indian Anupama Upadhyaya 19-21, 21-19, 21-7 in a tough semifinal match.

    The men's singles final of the Syed Modi Badminton Championship 2022, which was slated to take place between Arnaud Merkle and Lucas Claerbout on January 23rd was declared as a 'no match' after one of the finalists tested positive for COVID-19.

    The Syed Modi Badminton Championship 2022 mixed doubles title was won by the Indian duo of Ishaan Bhatnagar- Tanisha Castro. The 7th seeded pair won the mixed doubles final of the Syed Modi International tournament comfortably in two straight sets of 21-16, 21-12 against another Indian pair Hema Nagendra Babu and Srivedya Gurazada on January 23rd.
