Universal Institute, Kottakkal started functioning in the year 2000 with the avowed objective of providing the best professional entrance coaching to the students of the largely rural, socially and economically backward region of Malabar. The institute occupies a unique position among the best entrance coaching centres for Medical, Engineering and IIT courses. Strategically located at Changuvetty, Kottakkal in Malappuram district, the institute attracts students from all over the state.

In 1989 under the leadership of Mr. Hamza Kypakasseri, a team of efficient and expert teachers in Science and Mathematics designed a coaching centre for various Entrance Examinations (IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, AIIMS,IIST, CUSAT, NDA, AFMC, Kerala Med/Engg entrance etc ...), entitled The Science Institute, Manjeri. Soon it began its function in a small building with very limited students and staffs.
