Range Forest Officer

A Range Forest Officer is in charge of the administration in a forest.He is responsible for the life around in his forest limits.The examination for the Range Forest Officer is conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission.

The exam is held across the state.The selected candidates, after the written test will be admitted to the Range Forest Officers Course under the Director of Forestry Education.After the completion of the course the candidates will be given an year of practical training in the department.

Kerala PSC Range Forest Officer Duties

A Range Forest Officer is in charge of the forest.He has to look after the wildlife in the part of the forest,where he is appointed.He has to be mentally and physically fit to face severe encounters in the forest.

Before appointing the candidate as range forest officer,he will be given training under the Director of Forestry Education for an year.

Kerala PSC Range Forest Officer Screening tests.

A candidate who have passed the Kerala PSC written test of Range Forest Officer will be subjected to other tests of:-

1) Physical Measurements

2) Walking test

3) Interview

The candidate who is shortlisted after the written test and screening test are admitted to the Range Forest officer Course under the Director of Forestry Education.

After the successful completion of the course,the candidate will be given practical training under the Kerala Forest department.

Candidates must possess a Degree in Science or Engineering from a University, Institution or Deemed University recognized by Government of India or Government of Kerala with at least one of the following subjects:-

 Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application/Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural/ Chemical/ Civil/ Computer/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical), Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology.

Kerala PSC Range Forest Officer Exam Pattern

COMPULSORY SUBJECTS

(1) General Knowledge 100 marks

(2) English (Essay and Precis writing etc) 100 marks

 OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

 (3) Any two subjects out of the following 200 marks each Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application/Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural/Chemical/Civil/Computer/Electrical/Electronics/ Mechanical) Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology. (The standard of these subjects shall be that of a Bachelors Degree).

Note:- No candidate shall be allowed to take more than one subject of the following groups

(i) Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Veterinary Science.

(ii) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

(iii)Computer Application/Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

(iv)Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

(v)Mathematics and Statistics.

 Note:- Optional subjects selected for examination should be specifically noted on the application, if not, the application will be summarily rejected.
