M.E.S College of Engineering , the first Engineering College established under the self financing sector in Kerala is situated on the beautiful and serene banks of Nila or Bharathapuzha. It was established as an institution with minority status in 1994.

As flag bearers of excellence in professional education in South Kerala, “Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society” was given birth by the initiative of Rev. Fr. Joseph Kurinjiparampil, with the encouragement and association of a few Syrian Catholic Parishioners in Thiruvananthapuram, who have left indelible imprints in the segment of education and with the blessings and patronage of His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Archbishop of Changanacherry.

Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology (M-CET), is the prestigious technical education project of the leading industrial group, The Mohandas Group of Companies, Thiruvananthapuram.

The College of Engineering, Trivandrum was established in 1939 as the first Engineering College in the then Travancore State. The first classes were started on 3rd July 1939 during the reign of the Travancore King, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma and as the head of the then Travancore state he deserves his share of credit in the establishment of the college. Initially the College was housed in the former office and bungalow of the Chief Engineer (present PMG Office).
