The Government Arts College, (GAC) Ariyalur , a pioneering Government College, was established in the year 1965, the awareness of Higher Education among the people in and around the small town Ariyalur and the development in the field of primary, middle level education in Tamilnadu as well as the then State Government policy to spread Higher Education in the rural areas of less privileged, contributed to establish this revolutionary Government College of Arts at Ariyalur.
