Reserve Bank of India is known as the apex banking institution of India. It controls the monetary policies of Indian economy .Reserve Bank of India commenced its operations on 1st April, 1935 during the British rule in India. Reserve Bank of India was nationalized on 1st, January, 1949.

RBI Grade B is one of the ambitious posts in the banking sectors of India.A young candidate joining the bank as RBI Grade B officer can reach the top post of Deputy Governor before he retires his post.

RBI releases its notification for the post of RBI Grade B in its official website. The notification for the post of RBI Grade B will be available in the official website of RBI .All the relevant details needed for the candidate will be provided in the official notification from age, eligibility, exam patternto the number of vacancies.

RBI Grade B Vacancies

For the current year of 2017 ,RBI has reported over a vacancy of 161 seats.At the same time RBI reported a number of 163 vacancies in the previous year of 2016.From all the above reports we can expect a vaccancy upto 170 in the next year.

Officers in Grade B-DR(GEN)

A minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th Standard examinations.

 

The minimum qualifying percentage or an equivalent grade for the Bachelor’s degree will be in aggregate for all semesters/years.

A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute

Officers in Grade B-(DR)(DSIM)

a.       A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR

 b.      Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR

 c.       M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years OR

 

 d. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

RBI Grade B examination is conducted in three phases. Candidate has to get the cut off marks to get shortlisted for the next level. The three phases of RBI Grade B(DR)(GEN) examination are:-

Phase III( Interview) -The candidates will be shortlisted for the interview on the basis of marks secured in Paper I+ Paper II+ Paper III. The interview is for 50 marks. The RBI Grade B (DR)-(DEPR)/(DSIM) has three papers for the examination. Paper I is an objective type paper on Economics and Paper II and III are descriptive papers on Economics and English respectively.

Paper-I: Questions would cover Probability: Definition of Probability, Standard distribution, Large and small sample theory, Analysis of Variance, Estimation, Testing of Hypotheses, Multivariate analysis and Stochastic Processes.

 Paper-II: Questions would cover (i) Probability and Sampling, (ii) Linear Models and Economic Statistics, (iii) Statistical Inference: Estimation, Testing of hypothesis and Non-parametric Test, (iv) Stochastic Processes, (v) Multivariate analysis and (vi) Numerical Analysis and Basic Computer Techniques.
