UPSC Civil service

Civil service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission is the most prestigious exam held in the country. It is conducted in three main stages; The Prelims ,Mains and the Interview. The preliminary exam is the first and the most important step to enter into civil service. The preliminary exam consists of two main papers; General Studies I and General Studies II .Both exams are of objective type question, carrying a maximum of 200 marks each. Paper I deals with events of National and International Importance. Paper II is a paper which tests the reasoning and analytical skills of the candidate, however it is only of qualifying nature.

Preliminary Exam

Since 2011,UPSC has changed the pattern of Civil service Prelims exam into CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test).Civil Service Aptitude test also helps to analyse the logical and reasoning skills of the candidate.

CSAT consists of two papers of objective type question with multiple choice answers carrying a maximum of 200 marks each.General Studies I consists of questions related to National and International Importance,Indian Polity,Geography etc.General Studies II tests the logical,reasoning and comprehensive skills of the candidate. General Studies II is a paper of qualifying nature and the candidate only need to score a minimum qualifying mark of 33% to qualify for mains:-

UPSC CSE Interview

UPSC Civil service interview is also called the Personality Test.A personality test is conducted to evaluate the mental calibre of the candidate.It is also an assesment of his social traits,interest in current affairs and mental calibre.

UPSC CSE Vacancies

The government has notified 980 vacancies this year in the prestigious IAS,IPS and IFS Civil services exam,the lowest in the past five years.For the year 2016 and 2015 , 1079 and 1164 vacancies were reported.The number of vacancies are always low for this prestigious exam,but the perks and status of the job encourages more students every year to apply for the exam.

Negative Marking

There is negative marking for every wrong answers in the prelims.A mark of 1/3rd will be deducted for every wrong answer from the total marks.Therfore,candidate must be extra careful while chosing the answers.
