Mandapeta is a small, semi-rural town of East Godavari District, the rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh. More than 80% of the populations are farmers, both big and small and agricultural workers. The place is surrounded by lush green rice fields and luxuriant vegetation. It is also a bustling commercial centre for clusters of surrounding villages. It is developing into a bio-industrial hub with a number of animal husbandry, poultry and agri-based units coming up around it.
Realizing the need for better educational facilities and opportunities for its rural youth, the people of Mandapeta founded Mandapeta Educational Society (MES) in 1989.The MES started its efforts for establishing a Degree College at Mandapeta. It acquired a fertile land of 8.29 acres at Maredubaka, a small village on the outskirts of Mandapeta. An amount of ten lakhs was deposited as corpus fund. As a result of relentless efforts of the members of the society along with concerted support of the people the Government of Andhra Pradesh issued G.O. starting the Degree College in 1989 (G.O. Ms.No: 253, Edn, dated 3-8-1989 )
The founders envisioned the college to grow into an institution of excellence imparting quality instruction and shape responsible future citizens with global competencies catering to the needs of National development.

Mission: To continually impart quality education with value orientation, integrate current trends, promote students research and encourage extension activities for the benefit of the rural and marginalized sections of the society.
