With the combined effort of Government of TamilNadu and Bharathidasan University, Bharathidasan University Model College is started at Thiruthuraipoondi,Thiruvarur District.It is inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of TamilnaduPuratchiThalaivi, Dr.J.Jayalalitha, on 18th July 2011. The College is mainly meant for rural students (Girls and Boys). It was started with strength of 398 students (Girls 236 and Boys 62)enrolled in 5 UG Degree courses. The College is functioning in Government Women and Children Old Hospital Building,Thiruthuraipoondi. In the second year (2012-2013) student’s strength is increased to 688(Girls 572 and Boys 116).
