The long cherished ambition of Wandoor is fulfilled. Ambedkar College of Arts and Science, Wandoor came into being in the academic year 2014-2015.It is a college aided by Government of Kerala and affiliated to the University of Calicut.
The college is run by the INDIRAJI MEMORIAL SOCIETY, a Society formed with the aim of uplifting the lot of the depressed classes in general and Scheduled Caste population in particular. The college is unique in the sense that it is the first such institution ever sanctioned by the Govt. of Kerala. That is how the college named after the great visionary Dr. B.R. AMBEDKAR.
The college has a dedicated lot of eminent teachers who have a well conceived idea and a well defined path of work for achieving the goal with regard to the overall development of its students.
The college had a humble but noble beginning, in the month of September, 2014, in a rental building .However a beautiful hillock, calm and serene site at Ambalappadi, just 1 Km from Wandoor town, awaits to house the college and its beautiful campus.

Ambedkar College of Arts and Science, Wandoor, is unique in the sense that it is the first aided college ever sanctioned by the Govt.of Kerala for the uplift of the scheduled castes. The college is run by “INDIRAJI MEMORIAL SOCIETY”, the members of which exclusively belong to the scheduled castes. The society is registered under societies Act,( No.982/2013), and is in the same path of “PEOPLE’S EDUCATION SOCIETY”, established by the great visionary, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian constitution .He urged the Government, “The primary responsibility of providing opportunities for educating the downtrodden and depressed classes lies with Government”. We are happy to see that our Government remembered Dr. Ambedkar’s words and reacted positively to fulfill its responsibility. It is further befitting that the college is established in Wandoor, an Assembly constituency reserved for Scheduled Caste population.
