Avila College of Education was established by the Latin Catholic Diocese of Cochin in 1995. It is presently administered by Aquinas Educational and Charitable Trust, Edacochin. The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Government of India has granted minority status certificate to Avila College of Edacochin by its order No. 326 of 2011/54850 dated 10th August 2011.
