Bishop Jerome Institute was set up in memory of Most Rev. Dr. Jerome M. Fernandez, the first native Bishop of Quilon Diocese, who worked tirelessly for the educational progress of the Latin Catholic community by starting colleges, schools and technical institutions. Bishop Jerome Institute is committed to provide professional education in a Christian atmosphere to all the students who join the institution for pursuing their professional studies. The institution maintains an ambience conducive to academic pursuits, while encouraging in its students an observing eye and an enquiring mind that will facilitate their transformation into genuine professionals. The institution also has a social mission to turn out leaders with social commitment and moral values, who will pioneer a social transformation for a brighter world. The institution hosts an integrated technical campus with three different schools of studies namely, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Architecture, and School of Management. There are four different branches of study in the School of Engineering: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The Bishop Jerome Institution is committed to provide University Education in a Christian atmosphere to deserving students, especially of the Catholic Community. However it does admit other students irrespective of caste and creed. The College aims at maintaining an ambience conducive to academic pursuits, and at encouraging in its alumni an observing eye and an enquiring mind that should facilitate research and eventually raise them to the ranks of the eminent.
