Government First Grade College, Hosakote, was established in 1985. Since then it has been rendering yeoman’s service in the field of higher education in and around Hosakote. The college is affiliated to the Bangalore University and has been accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade in 2011.
The college caters to the needs of the socially and economically underprivileged rural students. The college is focused on educational excellence and the achievement of equity among the student community. The enrolment of 60% of girl students for higher education in the college emphasises the commendable role of the college in empowering girl students of rural area.
The college provides undergraduate courses - BA, BCOM, BBM and B.Sc., and postgraduate courses – MA in Political Science and M COM. It has well equipped laboratories and an EDUSAT Centre. A team of highly talented and committed faculty has enabled it to produce excellent academic results. The college has a well wequipped and fully computerized library which enables knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing.
The principal Dr.muninarayanappa and the College Development Council (CDC) under the chairmanship and guidance of the MLA, Sri. N.Nagaraj, (MTB) is instrumental in bringing many positive changes in the college
