The Word ENGINEER is derived from Latin words ingeniare meaning "to contrive or devise" and ingenium meaning "cleverness". Hence an Engineer should develop the skills to design materials, structures and systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulations, safety and Cost. The work of engineers forms the link between scientific discoveries and their subsequent applications to human needs and quality of life.
