But despite the ardent desire, the world lies like a land of dreams, so captivating, so beautiful, yet so aloof, distant and so tantalizing....It is the realization of this truth that led to the formation of Mahathma Educational and Media Trust, with a view to conceiving popular and diverse vision in the domain of media.
The main objective of the Trust is to usher in the talented young personals to this Alice's Wonderland of media by bringing together the sphere of education and visual communication. The venture is steered and navigated by a team of distinguished luminaries with the wealth of experience in both fields.
Ours is an era of media supremacy. Media education the world over is going through a remarkable transition as a result of the tumultuous changes taking place in the world of media. Certainly it is the electronic media that wear the crown and hold the rein. It opens the window to infinite job opportunities! Yet, what is the emerging picture of our state in the domain of visual media? Is it not a paradox that we cannot find trained personals who can really work in channels and other related areas? Is it not a pity that an institution that provides excellent practical training in Television Journalism is still a nonentity in our state?
It is under the backdrop of these conditions that the Trust undertakes its initial project--the establishment of an institute of Excellence in the realm of Media, affiliated to Indian Universities, offering PG Programme in Television Journalism. With this prospect in view, the Trust has already procured 10 acres of land, a marvel of scenic beauty, at Karingad in Kavilampara panchayath near Thottilpalam, in the borderline of Kozhikode and Wynad districts. The building complex constituting Lecture Hall, Library, Studio, Shooting Floor, Hostel and cafeteria is being constructed at the site extended over an approximate are of 20000 sq. Feet.
The programme commences in 2012 August.
