Sree ChitraThirunal College of Engineering (SCTCE), Thiruvananthapuram, was established by the Govt. of Kerala in the year 1995 in memoriam of the Great Maharaja of Travancore and is affiliated to the University of Kerala with AICTE approval. The institution has the broad objective of being an active agent of change by responding to the needs and challenges of the times by grooming young men and women into technocrats through the process of engineering education, training and research. SCTCE is one of the few colleges in the state having NBA accreditation for all the major departments and ISO 9001: 2000 certification within a short span of time. SCTCE is also having the privilege of being one of the top six colleges in the state aided under the World Bank funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP)

The vibrant Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the institute with the Technology Business Incubation Unit of Technopark, Trivandrum has produced many successful young entrepreneurs. The Career Guidance and Placement cell helps in student counseling, revamping communication skills through Language lab, and in imparting aptitude training & personality development programs by corporate trainers and professionals. The institute also offers Consultancy and Technical Services with immense institute-industry interface. Many Student projects have won prizes in All-India technical fests in several years. The college also has cutting-edge computer network and 4 Mbps unlimited WiFi internet facility with first-rate labs for core departments.
Apart from an erudite and experienced faculty, the college also takes pride in its students who have consistently topped the Kerala University B.Tech exams, including three first ranks in the year 2009. A large number of our students secure high scores in the GATE, GRE, GMAT and CAT Examinations. The alumni working in various industrial sectors across the world act as an interface between the college and the industry. The college is managed by a Board of Governors consisting of the Honorable Minister for Transport, Govt. of Kerala as the Chairman, Principal Secretary - Higher Education, Principal Secretary - Finance, Secretary for Transport Department (Vice-Chairman), Managing Director of KSRTC, F.A. & C.A.O, of KSRTC, two educationalists nominated by the Chairman, two nominees of AICTE, Director of Technical Education and the Principal of the college (Member Secretary).
