Sri AddepalliSatyanarayanaMurty, the founder of the college was a freedom fighter of high repute. He took part in the Salt Satyagraha and the Quit India Movement and accepted imprisonment with a smile as a gift from the Mother India. He was also a great humanist and social worker who fed thousands of motherless and destitute children with milk every morning and provided food to the victims of famine and floods. As a great visionary and a noble soul, Sri AddepalliSatyanarayanaMurty donated huge amounts to the educational institutions in and around Palakol even by selling away his property.
A registered body by name Educational Society was formed with Sri AddepalliSatyanarayanaMurty, the chief donor as president and Sri Ch. Surya Rao, the then Municipal Chairman as secretary, Sri B. Venkataraju Gupta as treasurer and many other luminaries as members. As a result of the untiring efforts of the Educational Society, funds were raised and suitable site was acquired. Govt. of Andhra Pradesh accorded sanction for starting SRI ADDEPALLI SATYANARAYANA MURTY GOVT. COLLEGE affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam from the Academic year 1968-69.(vide G.O.Ms. No. 1441 Edn. Dt. 11-07-1968)
