Starting as a small institution in 1950 in Narasaraopet with the noble aim of catering education to the then students of backward Palanadu, Telangana and to the Rayalaseema areas, S.S.&N. College has become a full fledged degree college comprising an area within the radius of 34 acres. As an affiliating college first to the Andhra University and later to Acharya Nagarjuna University it has achieved tremendous progress through Quantitative Expansion and Qualitative Improvements on various academic fronts. The college, an 'Abode of Learning' at present offers P.G. Education courses are M.B.A., M.C.A. and M.Sc Chemistry respectively. Keeping abreast of the recent developments and changes in the fields of Science, Bio-Technology was introduced in Under Graduate Level.
The former students of the N.C.C. wing of the college are at present in high positions. The N.S.S. wing of the college established in 1955 has made a quantum leap in enlisting hundreds of students organizing four units registering significant growth and achievement by way of creating awareness on health and hygiene, literacy, communal well being and harmony. The college has been bringing many laurels in state and national levels under the able guidance of the former and present directors of physical education. The college Library has over 40,000 books national and international journals and is planning to reprographic facilities and access to the internet. The college hostel is equipped with magnificient buildings. It has been accommodating nearly 600 students per year.
It is proud to say that eminent persons like Dr. K.C. Reddy, (Chairman A.P.S.C.H.E) Justice Sesha Sayana Reddy, (High Court Judge) Prof. V. Balamohan dass, (The Vice Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University) Sri Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, (Present M.L.A., Narasaraopet) Prof. D.A.R. Subrahmanyam, a visionary and a renowned academician (Executive Council Member, A.N.U) are some of the alumni of this prestegious institution.

College which has been passing through fifty sixth year of its inception, is making a tremendous progress in the field of education standing as a role model for other institutions to follow.
