Diocese of Irinjalakuda in connection with the sacerdotal Silver Jubilee of the first Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil instituted St.James Hospital Trust and started a multi specialty hospital in the year 1989. this hospital has various specialities namely General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics with Balloon Therapy, Orthopedics specialized in knee and shoulder Arthroscopy, Pediatrics, ENT, Eye, Dermatology specialized in scar removal, Anaesthesia, 24 hour Trauma care, Psychiatry, Dental department and Radiology, Department of Neuro Science, Department of Cardiology and Nephrology.
Our Patron Rt. Rev. Dr. James Pazhayattil has long been guiding the educational activities of the Diocese of Irinjalakuda. In the silver Jubilee year of the Diocese of Irinjalakuda, the hospital trust gave birth to an offshoot- St. James Medical Academy. The college of Nursing started functioning in the year 2002 and in 2004 a new College – Pharmacy College- started functioning. This has been renamed as “St.james College of pharmaceutical sciences” which has been got approved by the University of Calicut. Rev. Fr. Joy Kadambatt is the director of SJMA (St.james Medical academy) and Fr. Antony Mukkatt is the associate director of SJMA. The Government of India –national Commission for minority educational institutions as per notification number F.No.23 of 2006 dated 24th may 2007pleased to declare this institution as a Minority Educational Institution covered under article 30 of the constitution of India.
