T.K.M. College of Arts and Science, established in 1965 by the TKM College Trust, is an acclaimed citadel of learning in the city of Kollam. Re-accredited by NAAC in 2013 with an ‘A’ Grade, which bears testimony to its potential for excellence, the institution today commands an unparalleled prestige in the academic community.
Right from her inception, the Arts and Science College has earned a renown for discipline and academic eminence. Utmost care is taken to impart quality education. In addition, the college gives paramount importance to character formation and holistic development of the students. The diligence and enthusiasm evinced by the academic fraternity of the college help the students realise their aspirations. Presently, we have nine UG programmes and five PG programmes under the regular aided scheme. There are two research centres functioning in the institution. Our various add-on and continuing education programmes give our students adequate exposure to different disciplines and enhance employability.
Social Service/Extension activity clubs conduct a wide range of activities every year which are aimed at nurturing the latent talents of students and making then socially responsible citizens.
The institution follows several special practices such as bridge courses and remedial courses to take care of both weak and bright students. Prime importance is given to activities such as peer teaching, group learning, project preparation, seminars and industrial visits to enhance the skills of students at multifarious levels. The institution strictly adheres to the principle of equity and inclusiveness, particularly in taking care of girl students and socially disadvantaged sections of the society.
Today, there are few peers to TKMCAS, whether it is student discipline or academic excellence. Moreover, the college is proud to be a beacon of hope for the deserving yet socially and economically challenged students, a policy that was envisioned by our beloved Founder Janab Thangal Kunju Musaliar. Among its many recent firsts, TKMCAS has been re-accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A’Grade. The college is stepping into its glorious 50th year of academic excellence this year. Vision - The vision of TKM College of Art s and Science is to achieve supreme excellence in academic and nonacademic areas, without compromising on institutional responsibilities to the society as a whole, in particular to the socially and economically disadvantaged sections, with special reference to the region in which the college is located
Mission - It will strive continuously to provide an environment for the finest teaching and the finest research in the country and try to evolve into an intellectual and cultural nest for students of diverse ethnic, social, religious and linguistic backgrounds, especially the marginalized sections of the society such as the Muslims and the Dalits.
