Ram and Sam are travelling from point A to B, What are 60 km apart. Travelling at a certain speed Ram takes one hour more than Sam to reach point B. If Ram doubles his speed he will take 30 min less than Sam to reach point B. At what speed was Ram driving from Point A to B

  • 15 km/h
  • 35 km/h
  • 30 km/h
  • 25 km/h
  • 20 km/h
  • Explanation:

    Let speed of Ram =  x km/h

    and speed of Sam = y km/h

    According to question

    60/x-60/y=1

    1/x-1/y=1/60             ...(i)

    When Ram doubles his speed,

    60/y-60/2x=1/2

    1/y-1/2x=1/120         ....(ii)

    On solving equations (i) and (ii),

    x= 20 km/h

    ∴ Speed of Ram = 20 km/h
