Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Career

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for keeping the aero planes fit to fly .At the same time an aeronautical engineer will design and manufacture aircrafts. An aircraft maintenance engineer will service the plane to tell in simple language and will only help in maintenance of the aircrafts. It is a course which is open to boys and girls. Engineers those who have attained the AME license from Directorate of Civil Aviation can only fix an aeroplane.

Aircraft Maintenance engineering can be pursued from institutes that are certified by DGCA. To pursue this course one must have studied Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in their 12th std and passed out with at least 50% marks. Students who have done diploma course in engineering are also eligible for the training. The total fee of the course will be Rs 1.5 lakh. The training period will be for three years and after the completion of three years DGCA will conduct a license exam where if you pass it you will be awarded the license. After attaining the license you must also secure an individual license for an aircraft(boeing,charters). If you pass all the criterias then you will be fit to maintain and repair an aircraft.      

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Eligibility

To avail training for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering one must have passed 12 std with PCB if you don’t have taken Science stream in your 12th std one can learn the subjects from the National Institute of Open Schooling.

Step 1  To become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer one must have passed 12 std with PCB .

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Career Prospects

Engineers who have received DGCA license will get employed in airports and aircraft maintenance centers. If you can pass the defense test then you can work with the Indian Air Force or the Indian Navy. With the expansion in more airlines there will be in need of more AME’s.

An aircraft engineer will get a salary of Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000.It will depend on the airlines a person is working on .After a few years of experience the person will get double the salary from the initial stage . It will also be good if you can pass the AME exam conducted by the defense forces which will provide a better pay and lifelong status.
