A video Jockey is a person who anchors program me in channels. He or she hosts program me on behalf of the channel for the viewers. They introduce videos, songs, films, and awards shoes and interviews celebrities. In the olden days Video jockeys only used to anchor shows to introduce songs but now, they have started anchoring award shows, reality shows and interviews. The fate of anchors have changed in the society, before they were just vj’s now they are given the duty to interview and host.
A person who wishes to be a VJ shouldn’t be shy. A shyful person cannot present their skills in front of the camera. Only the one who is free in front of the camera can present their skills. They must have good communication skills. They must sound clear to the caller. You must also be respectful to the caller. You cannot show your anger to the caller which will promote grudge against the channel. Overall you should be very friendly and pleasant in front of the camera to be video jockey.
There is no specific academic qualification to become a video jockey, you must be very confident to host a show .That is the only required eligibility you need to have to be a Video Jockey.
Step 1 To become a video jockey one must expose themselves to performances and shows. They must participate for cultural programmes to get confidence facing the audience.
Step 2 They must also practice in front of the mirror and be themselves a groomer.
Skills for a Video Jockey
1) A vj must be confident to face the camera. The person should not be conscious to face the camera, if you think you are conscious you must take effort to remove that consciousness.
2) Expose yourselves to cultural activities like dance, music, fashion shows etc it will give you confidence to anchor shows.
3) Read a lot, read newspapers it will improve your knowledge about society and it will make you a better communicator.
4) Nourish values such as being respectful, thankful, pleasing etc to make the viewers comfortable.
5) Always be smiling and pleasant.
Video Jockeys have a good career growth .Once they are employed as a video jockey then it is a platform where your performance is seen all over the world. Through the cast, people will call you for dubbing, films or for hosting award nights. It is just like networking yourselves through the tv. Most the famous actors in the film industry have started their career as a video jockey. Later they were called to films.
The salary of the video jockey will depend on the channel or the function and for how many minutes you are going to spend there .Usually for one episode an anchor will get Rs 1500 -2000. With episodes they can make really good money in a month .If you can really bring out the best as an anchor then you can really make a good pocket money.
