Culture Minister inaugurates the exhibition ‘Astitva'

Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (I/C) of Culture & Tourism, GoI inaugurated the exhibition titled "Astitva: The Essence of Prabhakar Barwe”, at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.

‘Sopan 2019’ Held At New Delhi

The 6-day long music and dance festival ‘Sopan 2019’, to encourage young artists to take up traditional art took place in New Delhi.  It was Organised by Sahitya Kala Parishad and the New Delhi government, in partnership with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

It is an attempts to take forward the traditional Indian art forms. This festival is an opportunity for upcoming talents from vocals and instruments to dance forms to set an audience base for themselves.

Arunachal Government Declares Pakke Hornbill Fest As ‘State Festival’

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu declared Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival (PPHF) as the “State Festival” at Seijosa in East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh. Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival (PPHF) is only conservation festival of Arunachal Pradesh.
He announced that Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department will fund the festival from 2020 and permanent infrastructure will be constructed for the festival ground. 

Rajyavardhan Rathore Launched 'National Youth Parliament Festival 2019'

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Col Rajyavardhan Rathore launched the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 at a function in New Delhi.
The theme of the festival is- 'Be the Voice of New India and Find solutions and contribute to policy'.

World’s Largest Ice Festival Held in China

World’s largest Ice Festival 'International Ice and Snow Festival' was held in Harbin, China. This is one of China’s coldest cities in the winter. It is the 34th annual Ice Festival in Harbin, north-east China.

It features sculptures of Moscow’s Red Square and Bangkok’s Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

Indian Panorama Film Festival Begins In New Delhi

Indian Panorama Film Festival has begun at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare Inaugurated the Festival.
A total of 26 Feature Films and 21 Non-Feature Films will be screened during the festival. The festival is being organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

 Dwijing Festival Begins in Assam

In Assam, the third Dwijing Festival has begun on the bank of Aye river at Chirangdistrict. Assam PHE minister Rihon Daimary inaugurated the festival in presence of several dignitaries.
Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal will attend the event. Adventure sports, food mart, cultural events, traditional games are being organized in the 12-day long event. 

‘HAUSLA-2018’ Inaugurated In New Delhi

The National Festival for Children of Child Care Institutions (CCIs)- “Hausla 2018” of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) was inaugurated by the Secretary, Shri Rakesh Srivastava, in New Delhi.
The inter-Child Care Institution festival is witnessing participation of more than 600 Children drawn from CCIs from 18 states in the various events like painting competition, athletics meet, football, chess competition and speech writing as part of the Festival.

“Aadi Mahotsav” Organized By Tribal Affairs Ministry in Delhi

The 4th edition of annual “Aadi Mahotsav”, a National Tribal Festival organized by Ministry of Tribal Affairs in association with TRIFED and Ministry of Culture to celebrate and cherish the spirit of tribal culture, craft, cuisine and commerce held at Dilli Haat, Shri Aurobindo Marg, INA, Delhi.
Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram inaugurated the event.

14th edition of JashneBachpan Children's Theatre Festival Held In New Delhi 

The 14th edition of JashneBachpan, a theatre festival for children, will see performances from Switzerland, Sri Lanka and Indonesia along with their Indian counterparts here.

Organised by National School of Drama's (NSD) Theatre in Education (TIE) Company, the theatrical extravaganza will kick start from November 17 at the Sammukh, Abhimanch, Abhikalp and Little Theatre Group (LTG) auditorium.

49th India International Film Festival Begins in Goa 

The 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) themed on 'New India' is all set to launch in Goa on Tuesday.

A 90-minute power-packed programme incorporating elements and narratives of the rich and diverse kaleidoscope of the Indian film heritage and industry will kick start IFFI. Audiences will be welcomed to an array of on-stage scintillating performances by mainstream Bollywood artists, with Actor Sonu Sood doing an action-packed set, which will be followed by a romantic number from shilpa Rao.

Nongkrem Dance Festival Celebrated In Meghalaya 

Nongkrem dance festival, an annual event during which prayers are offered for good harvest, peace, and prosperity of the community was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by the inhabitants of the Khasi Hills on November 11-12

The unique dance is performed by the members of Hima Khyrim, a sub-tribe of the indigenous Khasi tribe. During which young men, women and kids dancing to the tunes of drums and pipes are seen clad in their exquisite ethnic attire of red and yellow.

IFFI to commence in Goa from November 20 

The 49th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2018 will be held in Goa from 20th to 28th of this month. 

The festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries which reflects the diversity of taste. International Competition section has 15 films out of which three are Indian. 

Information and Broadcasting Ministry said, the Festival will open with World Premiere of The Aspern Papers with international star cast. 

Anupam Kher Resigns As FTII Chairman

A year after Anupam Kher was appointed as the chairperson of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society — an autonomous body under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) — the actor resigned from the honorary post citing his commitment to an international TV show for which he has to be stationed in the US for long periods of time over next few years.

Arunachal Pradesh, British Council Sign MoU For Cultural, Educational Cooperation 

The state government of Arunachal Pradesh on October 27, 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council to strengthen educational and cultural cooperation, in order to support the knowledge ambitions and economic growth of the state.

The agreement aims to enhance the opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh and connect them to international expertise and ideas. It was signed by Tayek Talom, Director of Higher and Technical Education of Arunachal Pradesh and Alan Gemmell, Director of British Council India, on the sidelines of the Tawang Festival. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu was also present on the occasion.

2nd Guwahati International Film Festival Begins With Focus On ASEAN 

The second edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF 2018) began on Thursday on October 25. The week-long festival will end on October 31 and will witness the screening of more than 100 films from 50 countries. 

20th Edition Of WETEX 2018 Held In Dubai 

The 20th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2018 was held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. WETEX is organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) every year. WETEX 2018 is the largest edition in the 20 year-history of WETEX. 

Gwalior Hosts 4-Day International Dance Festival

Uzbekistan Ambassador to India Farhod Arziev will Sunday inaugurate a four-day international dance festival titled "Udbhav Utsav" here.

Dance troupes from Bulgaria, Turkey and Sri Lanka, apart from 25 teams from India, will participate while a team from South Korea dropped out at the last minute, organising committee president Keshav Pandey told PTI Saturday.

 

Jharkhand To Become Partner State At Goa International Film Festival

The Goa International Film Festival that will be held in November 2018 will have Jharkhand as a partner state. The decision was taken in meeting between Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Amit Khare and Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, Sudhir Tripathy at Ranchi.
This will allow Jharkhand to showcase its culture and favourable filmmaking incentives announced by the state government.

India International Science Festival 2018 Concludes: Important Highlights 

The four-day long mega science expo, India International Science Festival (IISF-2018) concluded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. IISF-2018 witnessed a footfall of more than 10 lakh people and more than 22 thousand registrations, the highest in its four-year history making it the largest festival of its kind in Asia.
IISF was inaugurated by the President Ram Nath Kovind. IISF 2018 also saw two major Guinness World Records being made one of which was a World Record successful attempt to “isolate DNA” by 550 students from class 8th to 10th standard. IISF-2018 with its focal theme “Science for Transformation” had more than 23 special events in its 4th edition.

National Khadi Festival 2018 Held in Mumbai

The National Khadi Festival 2018 is being organised by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to promote Khadi products.
The festival was inaugurated by Union Minister for Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh in Mumbai on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2018. The main objective of the festival is to promote the products of cottage industry and create awareness regarding the art of states.

Jaipur Literature Festival Begins in Houston 

The Jaipur Literature Festival began in Houston at the Asia Society of Texas.  The festival, touted as the world’s largest free literary gathering, started with a soulful music performance by Indian Sufi singer Zila Khan. 
The inaugural session also saw Congress leader and writer Shashi Tharoor discuss his book “Why i am a Hindu” with writer Namita Gokhale. 

Festival of Nuakhai being celebrated in Odisha

In western Odisha, the festival of Harvest Nuakhai is being celebrated on Friday. After harvest of new paddy of this season, rice has been processed and offered to Goddess Samaleswari in Sambalpur Friday morning.

PepsiCo's India-born CEO Indra Nooyi will be honoured with the Game Changer of the Year award by a global cultural organisation in recognition of her business achievements, humanitarian record and advocacy for women and girls around the world. 

The 2018 Asia Game Changer Awards will be given in October to individuals and institutions who have broken barriers, defined courage, worked miracles, and in turn inspired their fellow citizens of the world. 

Historic Esala Maha Perehera Festival Begins in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, the ten-day festival of the historic Esala Maha Perehera began in Kandy with a grand procession. The procession set off from the biggest Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka, Sri Dalada Maligawa at an auspicious time.
The Esala Perahera is one of the oldest and grandest of all Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, featuring dancers, jugglers, musicians, fire-breathers and lavishly decorated elephants.
