  • Arvind Kejriwal takes oath as CM of Delhi 

    Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday took oath as the chief minister of Delhi, for the third time, at the Ramlila Maidan.

    The Aam Aadmi Party registered a massive majority in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly election with 62 seats in its kitty.

    Arvind Kejriwal was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

  • PM Modi to inaugurate UN Convention on Migratory Species

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 13th Conference of Parties (COP) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The theme of the Conference is “Migratory species connect the planet and we welcome them home.”

    The CMS COP 13 logo is inspired by ‘Kolam’, a traditional art form from southern India. In the logo, Kolam art form is used to depict key migratory species in India like Amur falcon, humpback whale and marine turtles. As the host, India will be designated the President for the next three years. India is a signatory to the Convention on Conservation of Migratory wild Animals since 1983.

  • South Central Railways zone becomes 1st in India to have energy-neutral stations

    The Indian Railways South Central Railways (SCR) zone has become the 1st zonal railway in the country to have functional “energy neutral” railway stations on the network. The South Central Railways has converted a total of 13 railway stations into “energy neutral” stations, which is the highest amongst all the zones across the Indian Railways network.

    The energy-neutral railway stations are capable of meeting 100 per cent energy requirements by tapping into solar power through solar photovoltaic panels which have been commissioned at the station buildings.

  • National Workshop on e-office held in New Delhi

    National Workshop on e-office was inaugurated in New Delhi by Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh. During the National Workshop on e-office, Centralized Public Grievance Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) Reforms also launched by the minister. After the launch, he stated that the number of public grievances has increased to 19 lakh at present from 2 lakh in 2014. The Government of India in 2019 has received 18.7 lakh public grievances and disposed 18.1 lakh of them.

    The Centralized Public Grievance Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) 7.0 version has mapped the last mile grievance officers hence saving the time as well as improving the quality of disposal of cases. The CPGRAMS aligns with the Government of India’s vision of “Minimum Government-Maximum Governance”.

  • BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise 2020 begins in Bhubaneswar

    The National Disaster Response Force of Government of India is to host the second BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise-2020 (BIMSTEC DMEx-2020). The exercise is to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha between February 11, 2020 and February 13, 2020. The main objective of the exercise is to test the existing emergency procedures, disaster problems, during flood, earthquake and storms. The exercise will also stress upon restoring heritage sites damaged due to disasters.

  • Medical devices to come under CDSCO’s purview from 1st April

    The government on Tuesday issued a final notification to consider all medical devices as drugs, bringing them under the purview of the drugs regulator and tightening regulations for them to improve safety and quality.

    According to the notification by the ministry of health and family welfare, all medical devices, including implants and contraceptives, will be brought under the lens of the Central Drugs and Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in a phased manner starting 1 April.

  • Delhi Election Results 2020 Updates: AAP gets 62 seats, BJP 8

    In Delhi Assembly Election, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party scored a landslide victory. This is the second time in a row as Aam Aadmi Party swept aside both BJP, which was again restricted to a single digit and Congress which could not win a single seat. In the 2015 Assembly Election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had won 67 seats out of 70. BJP has won eight seats, five more than the 2015 assembly election. However, the party managed to increase its vote share by over 6% from the last elections. 0.5% (approx) voters pressed the NOTA (None of the Above) button.

    Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjeev Jha records the biggest victory margin of over 88,000 votes from Burari Assembly/Vidhan Sabha seat. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal won the elections from New Delhi while Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from Patparganj Assembly/Vidhan Sabha seat.

    Mr. Kejriwal thank the people of Delhi for reposing their faith in Aam Aadmi Party for the third time. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that “This is the victory of the people who consider me as their son and voted for us”. He said, “This is the beginning of a new kind of politics”.

  • Coal Ministry launches Web Portal for Star Rating of Mines in India

    Ministry of Coal (MoC) has launched a web portal for star rating of coal mines to promote the green, safe and sustainable mining practices with the help of technology. The web portal for star rating of coal mines enables all operational coal mines across India for self-rating, their subsequent validation by Coal Controller’s Organization (CCO), further evaluation and finally award of star rating.

    The mines scoring the highest score in the country will be awarded in a public ceremony on the basis of the star ratings obtained on this web portal.

    Coal Controller’s Organization will also issue an official certificate to all the mines mentioning their star rating. The Star Rating Policy for Coal Mines in India are:

    • The mines that score from 91 to 100% will get 5 star
    • The mines that score from 81 to 90% will get 4 star
    • The mines that score from 71 to 80% will get 3 star
    • The mines that score from 61 to 70% will get 2 star
    • The mines that score from 41 to 60% will get 1 star
    • The mines that score from 0 to 40% will get no star

    The Star Rating Policy for Coal Mines in India is formulated by the Ministry of Coal. This policy assess the Mines on 50 evaluation parameters (in case of Opencast Mines) and 47 evaluation parameters (in case of Underground Mines) under 7 modules namely:

    • Environment related parameters
    • Economic performance
    • Worker related Compliance
    • Mining Operations Related Parameters
    • Safety and security related parameters
    • Rehabilitation & Resettlement related parameters
    • Adoption of Technologies: Best Mining Practices

  • MMTC to import 11000 MT of Onions from Turkey

    Public sector trading firm MMTC has ordered import of 11,000 metric tonnes of onions from Turkey. This has been done on the directions of the Department of Consumer Affairs. The decision has been taken to moderate the rising prices of onion across the nation.

  • Hallmarking to be mandatory for gold jewellery and artefacts

    Hallmarking for Gold jewellery and artefacts will be mandatory from 15th January 2021.

    Notification in this regard will be issued by 15 of January next year, giving a period of one year for implementation.

    Jewellers and Retailers will get one year time for clearing their old or existing stock.

    More than 26 thousand jewellers have taken the Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS (Hallmarking) registration till now.
