Mannargudi or Raja Mannarkoil which derives its name from the Presiding Deity of the town Sri Rajagopalaswamy is a century old Municipality in the heart of the old undivided Thanjavur District and which is now one of the important towns of Thiruvarur district.

Thanthai Hans Roever College of Arts and Science is an educational institution run by the St. John Sangam Trust. It was established in 1985, as a religious minority institution in memory of Rev. Fr. Hans Roever, a missionary from Germany, with the primary objective of providing higher education to the weaker and backward sections of the society in general and the Christian minority in particular.

Nehru Memorial College is an Autonomous, Aided institution affiliated to Bharathidhasan University established in 1967. The college offers various UG & PG Programmes and also promotes research & innovation in teaching-learning process in various disciplines with a special focus on Computer Science and Instrumentation.
