KKTM Govt.College-Kodungallur Kunhikuttan Thampuran Memorial Government College-situated at Pullut near Kodungallur is named after the great scholar-poet Kunhikuttan Thampuran who came to be called “The Kerala Vyasa” for his brilliant rendering of the great epic, ‘ The Maha Bharatha’ into the vernacular.

Muhammed Abdurahiman Memorial Orphanage College is a first grade aided college of Arts, Science and Commerce, affiliated to the University of Calicut. It was started in the year 1982 as a junior college offering only Pre-degree courses. Later, it was upgraded as a Degree College in 1991 and as a first grade college in 2002.

The college started functioning in September 13, 1995 as a self financing institution with 20 students each on the rolls in the undergraduate courses of B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry, B.Sc. Electronics and B.Sc. Computer Science.

As early as in the beginning of the 20th century, the Diocese of Quilon established religious and educational institutions not only for Catholics, but all sections of society. But when the new dioceses of Kottar, Trivandrum and Punalur were carved out of the territory of the Diocese of Quilon, many institutions under its jurisdiction were handed over to the newly constituted Dioceses.

The college started functioning with a student strength of 160 in two batches of pre-degree class of 80 each in 1975. In view of heavy rush for admissions more batches were sanctioned by the university in course of time.
