Mar Thoma College, Chungathara was established on October 28, 1981 by the Mar Thoma Church, under the able leadership of the great visionary, Rt. Rev. Easow Mar Timotheos Episcopa with the great motto, “Let Your Light Shine”.

M.E.S Ponnani College stands as the beacon of higher education, which steers academically browbeaten environs in its voyage towards knowledge. Started in 1968, the college could stride myriad rungs of feats and escalations in this elfin span of time.

Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage College was established in July, 1968 as an aided junior college, affiliated to the University of Kerala under the management of the Tirurangadi Muslim orphanage committee (Regd.). Consequent upon the University re-organization, the college came under the University of Calicut in the same year. It was upgraded as a first grade college in 1972 and a Post Graduate College in 1980.

Thunchan Memorial Government College was started in the year 1980. The decision to start a Government College was the long cherished dream of a group of socially committed visionaries of this area. It was materialized as the result of the fusion of their enthusiasm, hard work, diligence and zeal.

Pookoya Thangal Memorial Government College, Perinthalmanna came into existence in July 1975, as a resonance to the pressing demand of the public for an institution providing University Education to the younger generation of Perinthalmanna and its Suburbs.

The college was started in 1972 as a second grade college with just two Pre-degree batches-[Group III [Humanities] and 1V[Commerce] and started functioning in a building of the Director of Public Instruction at Down Hill, Malappuram which continued till it was shifted to the present site in 1981. The realization of the college is due to Janab C. H. Mohammed Koya, the then minister for Education, Government of Kerala, whose dedication, involvement and enthusiasm primarily contributed for it.
