Gynecologist Career

A gynecologist is doctor who is specialized in female reproductive health. Gynecologist deal with female reproduction and female reproductive parts. Gynecology deals with the reproductive organs such as uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, ovaries and vagina. A gynecologist will also treat urinary bladder problems as they are very close to reproductive parts of a female. People often get confused between a gynecologist and a obstetrician. An obstretian is a person who concerned with the child birth. Obstetricians provide surgical care for women during pregnancy and childbirth. They also handle postnatal care. At the same time a gynecologist prepare them for child birth making them healthy for a child birth by analyzing all the parameters. But in most of the cases a gynecologist is an obstrtrian  as well.

Gynecologists use a variety of devices to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients. They see patients on an individual basis and often times have an assistant or other medical staff present to help with the examinations or procedures being performed. Gynecologists have a busy schedule as the calls for labor birth can happen at mid night or sometimes will never be as planned. A gynecologist has to very warm and friendly with the patients as it is a time where a woman needs utmost care and love. 

Gynecologist Eligibility

The student must pass 12th std with major subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology to write the NEET exam (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). NEET exam will determine the eligibility of a person to pursue MBBS course.

Gynecologist Recruitment Process

Step 1 Enroll for MBBS course in a recognized Medical college after passing NEET medical entrance exam.

Step 2 After finishing the course, pass the NEET PG medical entrance for Gynecology

Step 3 Complete the three years long MD Course in  obstetrics and gynecology.

Step 4 After completing MD you will have to pursue 3 years long MD in Gynecology course. After which you will become Gynecologist.

Gynecologist Career Prospects

You can be employed in various clinics, maternal care centers, government hospitals etc .There is plenty of scope in maternal clinics all over the world. Since there are more researches happening in the field of IVF, there is plenty of scope in gynecology.

The salary of a gynecologist will range from Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000.It will vary upon the factors such as expertise , experience , hospitals and academic brilliance .
